2008 Competition Timeline

Phase 1: 250 Word IDEA Abstract
December 3, 2007 - January 31, 2008, 5 p.m.

The BPC Phase 1 IDEA Abstract submission is due by January 31, 2008, at 5 p.m. CST. IDEA Abstracts are 250-word (MAXIMUM) business concepts.

Entries must fall into one of the four following categories: Advanced Manufacturing; Life Sciences; Information Technology or Business Services.

Judging takes place over the two weeks beginning February 4th. Contestants will be notified in mid- to late-February about Phase 2 eligibility. Watch your e-mail for contest updates. Judges' comments, if any, will be posted to your account on this site.


Phase 2: Executive Summary
February 25, 2008 - March 13, 2008, 5 p.m.

The top 50 IDEA Abstract presenters, plus ties, submit a 1,000-word Executive Summary. The Phase 2 Submission is due by March 13, 2008, at 5 p.m. CST.

The top 20 Executive Summaries plus ties are selected for the final round. All 20 receive a congratulatory plaque from the Governor and the Tech Council.

An informational boot camp for Phase 2 participants will be held the afternoon of February 27 in Waukesha. Details to follow.


Phase 3: Final Business Plans
April 3, 2008 - April 25, 2008, 5 p.m.

The top 20 Summary Business Plan presenters, plus ties, prepare Final Business Plans for judging. The Phase 3 Submission is due by April 25, 2008, at 5 p.m. CST.

Judges will review the plans and pick one place winner from each category.

The top four category winners will present their plans at the Wisconsin Entrepreneurs' Conference, and a Grand Prize winner will be selected.

*The end of each phase is followed by approximately two weeks of judging.
